Vehicle Accident, Van Reed Rd, Spring Twp
Wed, Aug 4th, 2021 12:35:00 pm Just after noontime on Wednesday August 4, TSFRS Rescue 85, Wyo FD Engine 79 and Western Berk EMS Medic 6513 were dispatched for a motor vehicle crash with reported entrapment on Van Reed Road, south of the intersection with Paper Mill Road in northern Spring Township. Additional information provided reported an SUV off the roadway in the woods.

WBEMS Squad 650 arrived on scene and reported entrapment with a sole occupant of an SUV into the woods and wedged between trees. Accordingly, Chief 85 (Hackman) special called Western Berk Engine 18-2. C85 arrived on scene, established Van Reed Road Command and requested that Fire Police shut down the road.
Contact was made with the occupant to determine the extent of injuries and entrapment which indicated no entrapment and negative injury. L79 under Capt. Yeager arrived and utilized a chainsaw to create an access path to the vehicle. R85s crew under Capt. Neubert utilized a portable winch from the rescue to secure the vehicle in place. RE18s crew stretched an 1 ¾" protection hose line. Crews accessed the SUV through the rear hatch and lowered the rear seats, which allowed the occupant to be assisted out through the rear hatch and into the care of EMS.

Crews checked the SUV and reported no fluid leaks, after which Command released RE18 and L79. The tow company arrived on scene and evaluated the vehicle. R85 secured their equipment and re-positioned to allow the tow company access after which the vehicle was removed with no further issues or fluids released.
