Structure Fire, Wyomissing Rd, Cumru Twp
Sun, Jan 17th, 2021 12:54:00 am Just after midnight on Sunday January 17 life got busy for TSFRS and Wyo FD members. A vehicle accident with injuries was reported on Rte 222 NB near Rte 12 in Wyomissing Boro, resulting in WFD Ladder 79 under Capt Holmes, Rescue 85 under Capt. Neubert and WBEMS responding. As the units were arriving, a building fire in Muhlenberg Twp was being dispatched which included the response of R85. Capt 79 released R85 which responded accordingly.

R85 arrived on location and stood fast as RIT until released by command. As this was occurring a structure fire was being dispatched on Wyomissing Rd in Cumru Twp which included the response of L79 along with Engine 85 and Tanker 85. R85 responded in place of E85 as TN85 under Lt. Ahrens and L79 responded from their respective stations.
TN85 arrived as the second due tanker and supplied E36 with water. TN42 arrived and supplied additional water to E36 thru TN85. TN85 operated until released by command about an hour into the call. R85 arrived on location and assisted with fire control and extensive overhaul throughout the basement and first floor of a 3-story single family dwelling.

L 79 arrived and staged on Wyomissing Rd. and the crew reported to the scene to assist with fire suppression. They pulled a second handline to check for extension and found fire moving from the basement into the kitchen. Members knocked the fire, removed windows for hydraulic ventilation and opened the wall to check for hidden fire. L79 personnel also checked the second floor and attic finding no signs of fire but a moderate smoke condition. The crew returned to the building and found additional fire running the ceiling. After checking the second floor and attic again, L79s crew returned outside and staged at the direction of Command.

Units were released by command and returned. However, Fire Police remained on location assisting with traffic control.
