Structure Fire, Gold Street, Cumru Twp
Tue, Jun 29th, 2021 1:53:00 pm In the midst of a Excessive Heat Warning on the afternoon of June 29, TSFRS and Wyo FD were alerted as mutual aid for a possible structure fire on Gold Street in the Montrose Manor section of Cumru Twp. Additional information supplied by communications was that the caller reported smoke coming from the windows, doors, roof, with alarms sounding from a neighboring residence. TSFRS Rescue Engine 85 under Capt. Nuebert, Wyo FD Ladder 79 under Capt Yeager, and Chief 85 (Hackman) responded with operations assigned to Fire Op's 1. Additional calls reported all occupants to be out of the dwelling but a pet dog was still inside.

RE85 and C85 arrived on scene to find a 1½ story single home with smoke showing. Chief 85 established Gold Street Command and was advised that the police reported a fire in the kitchen with access from the rear. RE85s crew advanced a 2" hoseline and began fire attack. L79 arrived on scene and was assigned to complete primary search with their aerial placed to the roof for possible ventilation. Cumru Chief 42 (Beane) arrived on scene and Command was transferred with C85 assigned as Operations. Cumru E42-1 arrived and laid a supply line to RE85 which was picked up and pumped by Shillington E36.

A second hoseline was requested to the second floor to check for extension, which was stretched by C85. Capt. 79 successfully rescued the dog from the second floor and turned it over to EMS for treatment. No fire was discovered on the second floor and windows were opened to vent the smoke. Capt. 85 reported the bulk of the fire knocked down in the kitchen which was being overhauled. Chief 85 completed a secondary search of the second floor which was negative.
With this Command placed the fire under control. Units remained on location until released by Command.
