Fri, Dec 11th, 2020 8:28:00 pm A reported structure fire on Gail Circle in the Wyomissing Hills section of Wyomissing Borough on Friday afternoon Dec. 11 brought Wyo FD Ladder 79, TSFR Rescue Engine 85, West Reading Engine 64, Shillington Engine 36, Kenhorst Engine 69, Reading Ladder 1, Muhlenberg FD Utility 11 RIT and Western Berks EMS Medic 6512. TSFR Tanker 85 responded as well. Additional info provided by County Communications reported a fire in the basement with black smoke coming through the air vents. While units were enroute, WBEMS SQ650 arrived on scene and reported smoke showing from the Alpha - Bravo corner and dwelling appears to be evacuated.

Chief 85 (Hackman) arrived with a single-family dwelling with smoke showing from the front and a hydrant located near the house. Chief 85 established Gail Circle Command on Ops 3. L79 under Capt Holmes arrived and positioned at the front while RE85 under Capt. Neubert staged at the hydrant. RE85's crew advanced a 200' two inch hose line to the basement. DC85 (Schartel) completed a 360, reporting smoke from the Delta - Charlie corner with a covered pool in the rear.

Captain 79 reported a moderate smoke / dry chemical condition throughout, and a fire in the furnace that appeared to be out. RE85 and L79 members opened the furnace and duct work as Captain 79 and L1s crew completed a primary search on the upper floor and checked for extension. Captain 85 confirmed all fire out at the furnace, and that power and fuel were secured. Captain 79 reported the primary search was negative and no extension was found.

Command placed the fire under control and held the assignment to L79, RE85, L1, E64 and E69. Crews began ventilation operations and atmospheric monitoring. Command notified FM43 by phone of the incident and that information and photographs would be obtained and added to the report. Chief 85 released the companies as the work was completed, terminated Command, and freed Fire Op's 3.
