Sheds/Woods Fire, Chapel Hill Rd, Spring Twp
Sun, Mar 14th, 2021 12:29:00 pm On a windy Sunday afternoon March 14, TSFR and Wyo FD, along with mutual aid partners from Western Berks, Brecknock, and Cumru FDs in Berks, and Adamstown, Reinholds, Denver and Smokestown from Lancaster Co. responded to a reported shed fire on a property on Chapel Hill Rd in the southern portion of Spring Twp. E85 under Capt. Conner arrived and reported multiple buildings involved with extension into grass and woodland. E85 laid a 5" supply from the main road to the fire area and went to work, assisted by L79 and L18 crews supported by tankers and a dump site on Chapel Hill Rd. E11-1 positioned further south along Chapel Hill and stretched additional hand lines eventually supported by other tankers. Capt. 18-1 was assigned to recon the brush fire, and Deputy 18-1 coordinated the dump site.

Multiple brush units were dispatched and along with the wildfire crew from Brecknock and additional personnel on scene were assigned to control the woods and grass fires. A second water source using TK11 as a quint was established from a pond south of the initial fire area to support this operation.

The fire was declared under control by mid-afternoon. Multiple resources were freed from this fire as soon as possible to cover other fires in the area, most notably another wildfire in Cumru Twp. TSFR FM 43 (Hatt), along with the PSP Fire Marshal were on scene to initiate the investigation.
